Joanne joined Nashawtuc Architects in 2005 after twelve years with architectural firms in Boston and Baltimore. She specializes in residential design, but has also enjoyed working on college and school building projects, including the Sprague Elementary School and Dana Hall’s Shipley Science Center, both located in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
As a strong believer in the benefits of responsive and quality design, she finds it very rewarding to help homeowners take better advantage of the houses they are in by optimizing their views and maximizing the sunlight in their house, by helping to make the spaces in the house work better for the busy complex lives we all have in today’s world, and to do all this beautifully. Her studies in Rome have given her a solid foundation in the elements of both classical and modern architecture.
Joanne lives in Lexington with her busy family. She has taught at the University of Maryland and participated on design juries at the Boston Architectural College, Northeastern University and the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
Joanne received her Bachelor’s degree from Harvard College in Biochemistry and her Masters of Architecture from the University of Maryland School of Architecture, where she was the recipient of their travel Scholarship to study in Rome, Venice and Como.
