A 1923 philosopher’s Studio had only five rooms and no real Kitchen. Mechanicals were located in the frequently flooded basement. Its location in a Historic District and within a Flood Plain precluded any horizontal expansion.
The only way to go was up, so the roof was raised. The Third Floor addition includes a Studio, Bedroom, Bathroom and Mechanicals. The First Floor gained a full Kitchen, Pantry and Mudroom, and the Second Floor, a Laundry Room.
